ETA: seems to be working! I never added in the commentary to the magic/muggle versions that although JKR writes that Harry and Hermione are disguised as middle-aged muggles, I drew them older, as portraits of my grandparents, who have recently passed away - my grandfather some months before this picture was done, my grandmother shortly after its completion.

I love this. Its one of my favourite scenes in DH, its so visual and full of art inspiration, as well as being so heartbreaking! There's something about memorials that makes my eyes prickle. I'm a pianist and this Christmas I went to visit Frederic Chopin's grave in Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris, and I must have stood there for an hour, I just couldn't leave...beautiful work!

thanks for commenting! I did like the idea of this memorial to the Potters - that there would have been a tribute to them. And it is brought to us at such a poignant moment in the story too, almost the darkest hour for Harry.
