The Wronski Feint by TomScribble The Wronski Feint by TomScribble
Viktor Krum swirls elegantly out of the Wronski Feint while Aidan Lynch gets ploughed.

From Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J K Rowling.

pencil sketch & photoshop. Something's still not quite right, maybe Krum needs vapour tracks but I'm not so fond of those, unless it's a real aeroplane or sth.

Viktor looks a bit like Matthew Lewis (a.k.a Neville Longbottom) here! :D

 Your illustrations are so full of humour! this one's hilarious. Love Krum's graceful hanging-on.

thanks! :) I remember twizzling a pencil through the air like an imaginary broomstick before deciding the most aerodynamic way to come out of the Wonky Faint would be to twirl out, thus rolling in the air & being momentarily under the broom.

lol! Talk about research.

I had to laugh last week, when there was a candidate on the German version of "Who wants to be a millionaire?" whose last name was Wronski! I was expecting a joke at her expense... but apparently, lots of my countrymen aren't as fluent in Harry Potter words as I am. :D

The way you draw broom-flying is amazing. While easy to visualize in imagination, which tends to hand-wave away details, it's hard to really picture what flying on a broom looks like sometimes. You really nailed this brilliantly.

thanks!!

I did give it a bit of thought when I started reading about Quidditch. JKR's book "Quidditch Through the Ages" talks about a "cushion charm", so the people sit on broom like on horses? But I'd figured out before I read that book that the best way would be to grip the broomstick with one's feet and knees, thus enabling oneself to steer the broom with leg and stomach muscles, and potentially leaving hands free to catch/throw/whack balls. This would also make Quidditch players really really fit, as described in many a fan-fiction:P

this is awesome. maybe there should be some drag on krum's face? but ur right, vapour tracks from a broom would just look odd.
